There are also occasionally games that run just fine on the official servers. I can recall two directly: Need for Speed (the first one) and also Diablo 2; I had cracked versions of both that worked just fine online. Of course, both of those communities are/were also extremely toxic, so I hardly ever did so ^^' ...

Hi, now you can and I have tested it and 100% working, by using Tunngle.
after registering and downloading the program and install it, you can search for the game you want to play and click on "DON'T PANIC" Button.
Then follow the information on how to play the game online

I always like to play on LAN or even hotseat, which is offline, LAN-less multiplayer.

I still don't consider hotseat to be obsolete, as video game consoles sport it.
