Actually I wonder what ridiculously unattainable goal will they set for a "Just The Jokes" riff this time, $2 million maybe? Will it be National Treasure again? Whatever, I'm happy but still bitter that they keep shoveling VOD crap and getting away from the franchise movies, pick better movies guys.

Yeah, I didn't even realize there was a video to watch at first since I was sold the moment I read the campaign and went straight to giving them my money.

Same here, pledged and didn't realize there was a video until ageekyguy mentioned it. This is fantastic and I pledged after reading the whole thing and looked for the most important thing to me, and found it - NO JOEL! That means these will be funny and professional, can't wait!

The fact that they've already demolished the goal shows how much interest and demand there clearly is for more MST; hopefully Shout recognizes that and keeps making an effort to keep the show going. If these four go well, I'd love to see them go for a full season, perhaps one they could sell to Tubi or Pluto.
I do wonder if these new eps will acknowledge the "continuity" of the previous few seasons. While I know the Joel-led seasons are controversial with fans, and I certainly have my own problems with how Joel handled things (especially with the last failed kickstarted), it's still a part of MST history. I feel bad for Jonah and especially Emily, who had their time cut short because of Joel's bad creative and business decisions. IF MST really gets going again, it would ne nice to see the Rifftrax crew still let Jonah and Emily do some appearances or host some episodes, too.

Since they're calling it "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Rifftrax Experiments," I'm guessing they're treating it like a "spinoff series," at least for the time being. That being said, I bet you a million dollars that TVDB will end up calling it the 14th season of MST3K, and it may become that if they end up making more than the 4 episodes they planned for this summer. I just hope it's not one of those things where the old crew only wanted to come back for a brief, limited time thing, and have no interest in continuing beyond that. However, if they DO want to keep making more, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jonah, Emily, Frank, and Trace make appearances. It would be nice if Joel would too, but I think the failure of his big-budget Gizmoplex thing probably left him soured on the franchise. He already said he wants to pivot to working on new projects outside of the puppet world. As far as my own personal opinion, I'm glad to see the SciFi Channel era of the show get a reboot, because they had a lot of strong episodes in those years

I'm not too worried about the plot. It's only four episodes and other than an acknowledgement or lampshading of some sort in the opening sketch, I'd rather they just stick to gags and not worry about the "story". Also, when last we left Mike, he was back on Earth with the bots, sharing an apartment while Gypsy was off running a corporation. I really don't want them to spend an entire episode worth of sketches explaining why they're back on the SOL. Hell, just pull a "Who shot JR" on the Diabolik ending and treat the series as a prequel to the Netflix years.
And yes, I agree that Jonah and especially Emily got screwed with their runs getting cut short. I do absolutely expect Shout to keep the show going if this does well, but I honestly have no idea if they'll keep with the Rifftrax crew (since I know Mike doesn't want to abandon Rifftrax for MST production full-time) or if they'll bring back the Jonah/Emily crew. I'd honestly be fine getting just a few "specials" throughout the year now and then instead of a full season or bust. Abandon the serialized plotting entirely and just treat each "special" as its own thing with whatever host and Mads combination they want.

As a little treat, we wanted to let you know that we'll be revealing one of the four movies we'll be riffing in these episodes on this Monday, February 9th at 11AM PT. This doesn't mean this is Experiment 01, it's just one of the episodes.
Stay tuned—you'll get to hear more from us in the not-too-distant future.
...Gosh, that's just great to type.

I disagreed on the last part. The Gizmoplex was a big success. I just wish the virtual theater would stay up.
The main reason Season 14 was failed to be funded was because of the stupid strike that was going on that time as well as the economic downturn, so if it weren't for those, we would've gotten it.
